Angola Foundation Led by Beto DeFreitas, capoeira combines Brazilian martial arts and an African heritage into a unique workout fit for anyone.
Blah Blah Blob
Step inside! Latent Design’s collaboration with Kent State’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative to create a multi-colored inflatable architecture has recently won the Activate Union Station placemaking competition. The amorphous soft sculpture will invite visitors to venture inside to experience a world reminiscent of childhood for spontaneous sharing and play.
Now that the red Divvy bike has retired for the year, it’s just blue bikes out there—thousands of them! But now it’s your turn to design a one-of-a-kind Divvy. Swing by our tables, pick up a handful of crayons or markers, and get coloring. Perfect for kids or the kid inside us all. And who knows? If it’s good enough, your design could make its way on to one of Chicago’s newest bikes.
Penguin Foot Pottery (all ages)
Penguin Foot Pottery will be demonstrating the Raku firing process, a quick fire method of firing ceramic ware. This firing method develops a unique surface design and the process itself is a wonderful event to experience. They will also have tables on hand with clay for people to work with and try their hand at sculpting.
Zen Yoga Garage
Home for the urban fitness enthusiast, Zen Yoga Garage is a place for those who want more out of life and need a reminder to be present and return to their true self. It’s hot and sweaty with an edge. Come join in with programs like yoga, Burn, Kids and Barre. There will be something for everyone.
Check out this mobile skate area and have some fun, or just watch and learn. RedBull MXT event truck will also be on hand providing the tunes. Presented by Uprise skate shop.
The 606/Bloomingdale Trail
Come learn about Chicago’s next great open space. An unused, elevated rail line will be repurposed, connecting thousands of children and their families, nature, and our community. The 606 brings together elevated trails for bikers and runners, art installations, and landscape design to create an urban oasis and a new way to explore Chicago.
ALDI Rest Stop
Be sure to drop by ALDI at Leavitt & Milwaukee. Enjoy free ALDI water and snacks throughout the day. Fresh produce and breakfast items will be available 10 a.m. – Noon. Lunch items, including hamburgers and hot dogs, will be offered Noon – 3 p.m.
Spa Soak will be on hand to provide relaxing 15 minute chair massages, as well as expert skin consultations. A licensed acupuncturist will be providing pressure point relief for headaches, neck aches and sinuses.
Corepower Yoga (all ages)
CorePower yoga instructors will lead you through poses and breathing exercises. A new class starts every hour. Stand like a tree, reach for the sun and feel the stress melt away.
Kidz Zone (ages 3+)
Kids love getting active while enjoying classic playground games like hopscotch and hula-hooping (demos by Carly Hoops!). Plus chalk art and face painting brought to you by Purple Monkey Playground and Children’s Learning Place.
Rock Solid Health
Rock Solid Health’s outdoor bootcamp class is designed to build strength and fitness using interval training. You will use your own body weight to increase cardiovascular efficiency, boost fat loss, & increase strength. Expect to be challenged & have fun!
Way to Well Bus The Way to Well bus will provide free tests, assessments, education and consulting services to event-goers. Valued at over $100, the 20 minute tests will allow participants to gain personal health insights.
Silver Room Dancing
Boogie McClarin’s Chicago House Initiative presents The Freedom Dance Party, which provides interactive dance experiences for all ages and abilities, with an emphasis on personal empowerment and building community through music and dance. Boogie McClarin will provide short workshops for children and adults, with an opportunity to practice, experiment, showcase and share to music from some of Chicago’s finest DJ’s.
